  • Welcome & Bonjour!

I love what I do and I'm bringing a fresh perspective to this here photographic world, so be sure to keep up and get involved!

I run a quirky little studio in Knoxville, but find myself doing mostly on-location shoots, available anywhere you are.  I specialize in local and destination weddings, boudoir, fashion bridals, seniors, and maternity. True to my passion, I'm always interested in other creative endeavors!  Questions?  Or, just like what you see... feel free to leave a comment on the blog or send me an email.  Just use that fancy link on the menu bar.

The Last of Red Rock

Vegas Recap : Day 2, Part 2

Ok, so I should clarify that our Sunday shoot was on the way to Red Rock, but not quite there. Our caravan of photographers headed out a little late in the day, so in order to catch the fading light we pulled off on the side of the road, and I think this location served us well.

Something you may not notice in the pictures from this post and the last was the light dusting of snow on the ground! Both Jessie and Elly handled themselves beautifully, I’m not sure I could have worked it for the camera baring either a short dress or strapless dress, especially surrounded by bundled up photogs who are able to keep moving to stay warm. So thank you girls.

Here’s Elly… oh, by the way, Elly is actually wearing my wedding dress! I’m thrilled that thing got to come out of the closet another time. However, getting it to Vegas was not as thrilling. I left for WPPI on February 14th, that’s right folks, Valentine’s Day. Carrying a wedding dress through in airport and onto a plane is sure to warrent a few “Awww’s” on it’s own, but carrying a wedding dress through an airport on Valentine’s day on your way to Vegas, and alone, was quite a conversation starter! Not to mention that thing gets heavy.

Ok, now here’s Elly…:)

After the shoot we headed back to the house to warm up and have some grub. A big thank you to David for making us some delicious rosemary potatoes and making up some killer marinade for our steaks, and an equally big thank you to Chris for being grill master. I miss our household dinners and conversations!

Vegas Recap : Day 2
, Part 1

So in my last post I believe I referred to my Vegas housemates as “pure greatness”, and I’m confident I could go on and on about how that’s so but I may lose your attention. So here’s just a little proof for you, when I walked into the kitchen Sunday morning Pat (affectionately known as Tom Brady) was making PANCAKES! He even did the dishes afterward, what a terrific start to the day.
After a tasty breakfast a few of us had planned on going to a large shoot out in Nelson for the afternoon but, to my dismay, it was canceled. That was two shoots in two days that something had gone wrong, I was starting to become a bit worried. So with nothing but time on our hands Cailyn and I set out for a drive. We decided to cruise the strip, which takes a surprisingly long time to do!
It turns out there was no need for my morning worry after all. Last minute shoot, in the middle of nowhere- I’m in!

These photos are of Jessie. She is an aspiring model in Virginia beach, personally I think she should drop that “aspiring” part. You’ll be seeing more of her on the blog later because I had the privilege to shoot with her twice more last week!

I had a very specific goal with these images, from the way I shot to the way I post processed. Something about Jessie’s dress, peace earrings, great hair, and the surroundings just screamed “modern retro”. I realize I wasn’t even born in the era we now call “retro” but I imagine these pictures would be something I’d want to see while flipping through a 1971 issue of Vogue.

More stories and pictures from day 2 to come…

Melinda Worthington I love this post, it’s got such an old feeling to it. It reminds me of a show from the 70’s…just can’t remember the name for the life of me! Great job!

Cailyn Hmm.. I think I’m seeing some Pool Party in these photos!

I’m jealous that you’ve gotten around to posting yours before me, but hopefully mine will be up tomorrow!!

I miss you, roomie, and I hope you’re feeling better!

I’m such a fibber.

I’m a little dissapointed I made a promise I didn’t keep. I said I would be updating while in Vegas and didn’t follow through. To my credit however, I kept pretty busy shooting and soaking in knowledge (ok, and having a bit of fun), so in my down time I tried to relax a bit.

Vegas Recap : Day One

I was scheduled to fly out early from Dallas Saturday morning, with plenty of time to attend a mini workshop, the KISS shoot, with the Boudoir Divas but not all goes as planned. After multiple mechanical problems and switching to a new plane I finally made it to Vegas, and we touched down just as the shoot was scheduled to end. As frustrated as I was, I was excited for my first WPPI experience.
I met up with Allie and Chris on the strip for a little lunch before we went to pick up the rest of our housemates from the airport. Can I just say right now, my housemates were pure greatness! Instead of rushing off to blow money on overpriced restaurants on the strip we all took a field trip to a near by fresh foods grocery and stocked up. Cailyn, my awesome roommate for the week, fixed some delicious pesto pasta and Chris rocked the grill with some Italian sausage.
Then of course we took in a little of what the strip had to offer, lights, fountain shows, and guys shoving nudy cards at ya!

I should also add that Chris and Allie are awesome bloggers and there is an entire VIDEO recount of the week (go back a page to start from the beginning). I am by no means forcing any one to watch, I’m just saying… it’s there, I’m in them, they make me laugh. For their blog click — HERE.

Cathy Thanks for being such a great roomie, Sheila. It was awesome to meet you! :)

Vegas and Baby, or Should I say – Vegas Baby!

Let me first say – yeah for more blogging! Hopefully I can keep this up. I will be in Las Vegas for a week and I can only imagine that I will shoot enough to blog for the rest of the month. Stay tuned for bits of awesomeness as I will definitely be blogging updates from the city that never sleeps!

Why do I always wish away time only to realize I needed more of it, not less? I had fully intended on having a newborn session with Miss Lucy before I left for Vegas but unfortunately time seemed to just slip by. Here is a little something to hold you over until I get more images of this cutie, and I’m sure her mom would like to see more too.

Leave some love.

Maya Laurent Look at that lil baby!!! So cute!

Take a Hike

This past Sunday the weather was beautiful, and seeing as we were only 45min from scenic mountain views it didn’t make much sense to stay at home. Now, I’m not very athletic and I did have a four year old in tow, so I wasn’t expecting anything sweat worthy. To my surprise Bri and I make a pretty good hiking team, we both have about the same uphill walking pace! All together we trekked for about 1 & 1/2 miles, half of that being straight up the mountain side.

About two thirds of the way up I thought Bri was going to turn around, and I would have been happy to join her. Just as I considered giving in to the high altitude and my weak legs a little boy, about nine years old, passed us on the path heading down. So what’s special about that? Well that little boy only had one leg and was visably struggling but kept going nonetheless. If he could do it, then two able bodied girls, at any age, could do it to. More importantly, I was thankful we could do it.

At the top we found this great look out structure! I would love to do an engagement or family session up there.

Eyed & Peek

Oh dear, has it really been a month since I last blogged? No worries, I have so many things to share in the next month that hopefully I can make up for the extreme lack of bloggage. Yes I just made up a word, but come on people, who decided blog was a word?

Remember the beautiful prego Amanda? Well, we haven’t had our official newborn shoot but I have stopped by twice to snuggle the sweet new little bundle of joy, also known as Lucy. Of course I had camera in hand.

I realize it’s been about four and half years since I’ve had a newborn myself but Lucy is only two weeks old and already lifting her head and turning it side to side, isn’t that advanced for her age? Regardless, I would go to one side and she would turn to the other, so I ended up with this picture that looks like a cute game of peek-a-boo.

Stay tuned for lots more this week!
