Knoxville Wedding Photography : The Reserve at Bluebird Hill : Lindsay & Jason

There were truly an abundant amount of beautiful moments is this Reserve at Bluebird Hill wedding on the edge of west Knoxville.  Which made picking only a few pictures to show nearly impossible (there’s a link to more below).  Lindsay and Jason make the perfect team and were so much fun to work with.  You could really see how much they cared for each other.

Apparently, Lindsay and Jason had decided on no gifts before the wedding but still wanted to exchange cards.  So like good photographers, my second shooter, Matthew, and I were ready to photograph the card exchange.  However, Matthew secretly radioed up to our location and told me to “be ready”.  Hello?  I’m always ready!  Turns out that Jason ignored the pre-arranged no gift policy and informed us Lindsay would “just have to get over it!”.  Adorable!  I love getting to capture those moments.  It was so sweet to witness and photograph Lindsay as she was showered with jewelry and her favorite- candy corn!  Congrats y’all, it was such a joyous day to be a part of.

WHY YOU SHOULD DO A “FIRST LOOK”: It’s not uncommon to hit a few time snags on a wedding day, which is natural.  It’s an exciting day, and time starts to fly.  However, this wedding day really flowed perfectly!  As a photographer, I obviously want to maximize time for portraits without taking away from the couple getting to enjoy each other and their guests.  Lindsay was on the same page.  Planning plenty of time before the ceremony for pictures not only allowed for me to gets tons of great images, that I wouldn’t have had time for later, but it also gave these two the freedom to actually relax and take in their whole reception  (I only had to steal them away for 5mins for a few night shots).  Perhaps the MOST important thing to note is this though… check out the emotion in the first look and the ceremony, it’s still just as real and raw.  First looks allow you to embrace and share that moment with each other without the crowd of a congregation, and then re-live the excitement all over again down the aisle.

Whitestone Country Inn Wedding Photography, Kingston Tn. TARA & COREY

Lets get straight to the point, I ADORE this couple!  Tara and Corey are not only two of the most kind-hearted people I know, but they also happen to be two kick arse wedding vendors here in Knoxville.  Corey is the main man over at Music in Motion.

So, imagine how honored I felt that they chose me to be their wedding photographer!  It was a beautiful day at one of my favorite locations, Whitestone Country Inn.  Check out their epic party, I mean wedding, below…

Tara and Corey are an incredable couple, and I’m blessed by their encouraging friendship.  Love y’all!

Styled Shoot : Red Rock Desert Nevada : Part 1

Boy, I love me a styled shoot… model or not!  Clients take note, hiring a professional stylist can be an amazing experience!  Imagine having your wardrobe picked for you, the perfect location chosen, and a makeup artist on hand to perfect your once in a lifetime engagement shoot, or even senior portraits.  No clue how to find or hire a stylist?  I’ve got you covered, I can recommend some great ones!

It’s no secret that I love the photography opportunities the great Nevada has to offer, so I try to make it a point to shoot as much as I can while I’m out there about once a year.  I’m loving the beauty and simplicity of this wedding portrait shoot.  It’s all about style, the desert, and the moments between Bailey & Maurizio.

Knoxville Engagement Shoot : Brittany & Justin

Downtown Knoxville is a great engagement shoot location rain or shine, and it just happened to be raining on the Sunday afternoon we had scheduled Brittany & Justin’s shoot.  However, Brittany had actually specifically told me that the weather didn’t matter, she was game for anything.  Needless to say, she’s kind of fantastic.

In addition to embracing the drizzle over in the Market Square park, Brittany and Justin wanted some pictures in one of their hang out spots, The Downtown Grill & Brewery.  These two really get what an engagement shoot should be all about, having fun and settings that mean something special to the couple!  We had a blast shooting upstairs at the brewery, while Brittany & Justin shot a game of pool (um, Brittany is the pool shark in that family) and played a little pinball.

Brittany Kesha, Im very sad to hear you don’t think we are a real couple. We have been together for 2 and a half years and can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together. Unfortunately, my fiance heard about your post and it really hurt his feelings. I don’t appreciate you being so inconsiderate to us. Please be aware that words do hurt and you should chose them wisely.

Thirst Relief Benefit Shoot, WPPI, Nelson Nevada: Part 2

In the previous post, Part 1, I told you all about how incredible Thirst Relief is, but what does that have to do with a fashion shoot in the desert?  Well, Thirst Relief is the brain child of a photographer, and has received growing support within the photography community.  Every year an auction is held to directly support Thirst Relief, which I have participated in the past four years.  For the past two years I have had the privilege to take part in the annual Thirst Relief Benefit Shoot in Vegas through the auction.

Thank you to the entire Thirst Relief team, Jim Davis-Hicks, Luke Edmonson, Mike Colon, CM Leung, Rocco Ancora, the makeup crew, the styling crew (GLAMTASTIK), the Nelson ghost town owners, and everyone in-between!

Thirst Relief Benefit Shoot, WPPI, Nelson Nevada: Part 1

This is a post, that has some great photos, but is really about an organization that is truly important to me.  THIRST RELIEF!  Thirst Relief is an incredible organization, dedicated to providing clean drinking water around the globe.  It can be easy to take advantage of a seemingly small luxury, but just imagine living even one week without your ice cubes, clean tap water, and the bottled water in your fridge.  Now, imagine a lifetime never knowing any of those things.  At the very least, every person on the planet deserves clean water!  I could go on, but just do yourself a favor and go check out Thirst Relief after you take a peek at these pics.

I’ll do a full list of thank you’s in “Part 2”, and more about the specifics of what in the world Thirst Relief has to do with these pictures, for now just enjoy a few images and then scoot your tushy right on over to Thirst Relief.
